A Vintage Christmas in Dallas

I still can't believe it's already a new year y’all! This is my favorite time of the year because I get to celebrate two holidays-- Christmas with my siblings and New Years with loved ones. Though COVID flopped some of my Christmas plans, I was still in good company! With a nice holiday break from work, I always choose to travel, and this time, I went to Dallas!

My trip to Dallas was one for the books! I visited my absolute favorite vintage shop, @Aavintedge, owned by my friend Cait aka the denim whisperer. I met Cait earlier in 2021 while in town apartment searching for my baby sister. I stumbled upon her shop on Tiktok and learned that she was also a small business owner with an assortment of unique vintage pieces. Cait and I hit it off immediately! She literally treated me like family and excitedly shared the idea of doing a photoshoot in the future. I made a mental note to visit her the next time I was in Dallas so there I went.

I was so happy to be back in the heat of Dallas and so ready to reconnect with Cait. On this trip, I brought with me a few patterned blouses from my vintage collection as Cait agreed to style me and one of her models in her vintage denim. Upon my arrival, Cait introduced me to her model, Lindsey. She was such a darling! Cait selected our denim to pair with the blouses. Lindsey and I ran out of our fitting rooms, excited to see each others' looks. Let me tell you-- we were amazed and quickly started taking selfies! Cait snapped a few polaroid pics of us inside the shop and we also took some outside. The weather was beautiful, making it the perfect day for a photoshoot in Dallas!

After look #1 concluded, we headed inside to get styled for look #2! I trusted Cait to freestyle this look. She dressed me in a pair of 70s black leather pants with a white bodysuit. The pants were definitely outside of my comfort zone because of their baggy fit. Cait read my mind and knew I didn't feel my best in them, however, she honored that, suggesting I change or add some flare with a belt. I was thinking it'd just be an ordinary belt until she finished fastening it around my waist. Y'all, it was a gold chain belt with horses! Tell me that's not a Texas staple! I looked in the mirror and fell in love with the way she styled the leather pants with the belt. It was giving a paperbag look that I wouldn't have thought of myself. Lastly, Cait topped off this look with a cream fur around my neck. Be sure to checkout my TikTok for a brief video of our reaction after she completed look #2. Our photoshoot continued and look #3 was already rolling out. Lindsey and I were styled in sequin dresses which screamed NYE! Aavintedge has a large array of sequin pieces from dresses, blouses and more!

A glimpse of look #2.

Reconnecting with Cait and meeting Lindsey during my Christmas break was a total highlight! It was like playing dress up but better. I was gifted a pair of denim-- the pair I styled in look #1 and immediately considered various ways to rock them with pieces already in my closet. Y'all, if you haven't checked out @Aavintedge yet, I need you to run to this shop the next time you're in Dallas. Allow the denim whisperer to work her magic and select the perfect pair of denim for you!
